Tuas Fire Station
Gross Floor Area: 3,500SQM
Year: 2011
Country: Singapore
Another upgrading exercise of a 30 years old fire station at Tuas Road. The exiting building unfortunately face west and eastly direction taking the full brunt of the sun. The staff accommodation also faces the main highway at level 3. These 2 issues were addressed with the installation of generous canopy to provide sun shading and the façade that faces Tuas road we install with perforated screen to reduce noise form the highway. A new multipurpose hall was added as a client requirement. Curve roof was use to reflect the continuity of the façade treatment of the main building. The thermal insulation of the multi-purpose hall is achieved by introducing a corridor at the west facing façade to eliminate direct western sun on the wall of the hall. The corridor also acts as the fire escape requirement of the building.
